My “new” year

We all associate the “New Year” with January 1st. And yes, it is.., but for me, my “second” new year starts with the start of the school year. I swear life changes drastically more in August than it does in January!

I can’t believe my little big boy is going into First grade! Full days!! Packed lunches!! Wow!

I have mixed emotions of being Proud, Excited, Nervous, Happy, Sad… my baby is definitely not a baby anymore!!

With the start of a new school year it means the start of so many things and activities!!

Start of:

  • A new School routine
  • New home routine/ daily routine
  • New & revised meal planning (Keto!)
  • Parents day out for little #2
  • MOPS craft coordinator
  • Boy Scouts
  • New gym routine & classes for the littles
  • Music classes for both littles
  • New cleaning routine

To keep myself organized and let out some creativity… I started bullet journaling last January. I love it! I can’t wait to show how crazy in love I am for bujo, my moleskine dot grid journal and let’s not forget my all time favorite… my sharpie markers and highlighters! I’ve added some non-sharpies (gasp!) to the mix too!

I plan on tackling this new school and all the new and revised activities head on!

I can’t wait to show you!! I even added a new Instagram page just for my bujo! Momdotlove

Kids workshop

One of the BEST activities I have found for kids is… FREE!! And… At your local Home Depot! Yes, I said Home Depot!

Every, yes, EVERY Home Depot host a FREE kids workshop on the first Saturday* of every month! It doesn’t matter where you live, no matter what state… Go check it out!!

Their website says you should register but that’s just a formality. While traveling, I have randomly visit other states Home Depot’s on the first Saturday and I’ve never had a problem getting a project for my son.

It’s always a wooden project. You get a kit, maybe some stickers and find a open spot to assemble. Grab some googles, hammer, wood glue, and some paint and get it done 😃

We started going about 2-1/2 years ago when my Nicholas was 3-1/2 yrs. They say 5 years is the min age but with some adult assistance, going when they are younger is very doable! Nicholas has 20+ pins (you get a pin with every project).

They update their website for each activity.

Also, they do offer adult workshops but… I just LOVE doing these with Nicholas! I can’t wait for Brandon to get a little older so he can participate!

Here are a few pics of Nicholas from the past year!
