A person who falls and gets back up is stronger than a person who never fell.

A person who falls and gets back up again is stronger than a person who never fell.

So, I’m getting back up!

It’s been almost a year since I fell off. I tried lazy Keto but not tracking my macros wasn’t the right move for me. I tried being low carb, that was ok. I was maintaining a 2/3 lb up or down for almost 6 months and I felt good about that. However just before thanksgiving 2017, I fell off hard! Carb overload. Now, a year later… I’ve roughly gained back 10-12lbs. I’m definitely disappointed in myself because not only did I gain the weight, but physically and mentally… I feel blah! I still marvel at how “great” I felt while being Keto. But, life got to me and I wasn’t strong enough in my convictions to keep Keto going. Well, that’s going to change… now! If I fall, I’m getting back up!

I’m a true believer that you can have cheat days. It’s what you do after that that matters.

I am on day 3… I have been stuck on day 3 for what feels like months. The temptations, the craving, have won almost each and every time of restarting this journey.

My macros:

Day 1: C8%, F77%, P15% (15 net carbs)

Day 2: C14%, F67%, P19% (19 net carbs)

Day 3: C15%, F63%, P22% (55 net carbs) and 300 calories over!

Fell off again…. getting back on! My plan for tomorrow… I can do this!

Day 4: C8%, F74%, P18% (11 net carbs)

Documenting my journal the first time really seemed to help. I’m not a big fan of full body selfies, so let’s start with a face to face!

Can you tell the difference? I can. Of course we all see our own flaws. Mine are my cheeks. That’s were I hold everything.

Now that I’ve documented this… time to move on! Just like hitting the big 4.0! It’s my best life now, at 40 years of age! My goal is to get back into that high waisted bikini and rock my mom bod on vacation! 👙

Much love,

Keri 💞

My “new” year

We all associate the “New Year” with January 1st. And yes, it is.., but for me, my “second” new year starts with the start of the school year. I swear life changes drastically more in August than it does in January!

I can’t believe my little big boy is going into First grade! Full days!! Packed lunches!! Wow!

I have mixed emotions of being Proud, Excited, Nervous, Happy, Sad… my baby is definitely not a baby anymore!!

With the start of a new school year it means the start of so many things and activities!!

Start of:

  • A new School routine
  • New home routine/ daily routine
  • New & revised meal planning (Keto!)
  • Parents day out for little #2
  • MOPS craft coordinator
  • Boy Scouts
  • New gym routine & classes for the littles
  • Music classes for both littles
  • New cleaning routine

To keep myself organized and let out some creativity… I started bullet journaling last January. I love it! I can’t wait to show how crazy in love I am for bujo, my moleskine dot grid journal and let’s not forget my all time favorite… my sharpie markers and highlighters! I’ve added some non-sharpies (gasp!) to the mix too!

I plan on tackling this new school and all the new and revised activities head on!

I can’t wait to show you!! I even added a new Instagram page just for my bujo! Momdotlove

3 month on Keto… only the beginning of amazing!

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words well… here’s mine!

This was my #transformationtuesday pic that I didn’t post. Amazing! I’ve never felt this great! Even when I was this weight before…

And I have to say… I’m a little disappointed in my outfit and pose. I dislike when pics aren’t similar and I totally fell into that trap. I didn’t have any intention to post a side by side but couldn’t believe the difference when I looked at it today (Wednesday!).

For my 6 month… I will definitely wear the SAME  sports bra as my first day so I can get a true side by side! Yesterday’s pic, I was wearing a new underwire sports bra that has some “lift” and enhanced it by folding my top. But the pants are the same 😃 I also popped my leg… something I learned from a photographer friend. “Best way to pose” and I find myself doing it a lot! Lol!

But the point is… 15 lbs!! In 3 months!! I know others have lost more on Keto but I am so happy. I have 5-10 more lbs that I’d like to lose (by summer) so that’s great! 5 lbs would get me to pre-baby weight and 10 lbs would put me just a tad under my wedding weight! I’m super happy!! I’m not losing a ton of inches in my waist… only 1-2 sizes depending on brand. But everything else seems to have gotten smaller… my legs and shoulders look freaking awesome!!!

I can’t say that my workouts have increased on Keto, but I do “try” to take yoga 2x a week and possibly jog a total of 3 miles a week… that’s the extent of my workout the last couple months. I really love yoga! I don’t think I’m burning a ton of calories but it’s definitely toning me in the right places.

I can’t wait to see where I am at 6 months! I have a weight and size goal but as long as I can maintain this WOE (way of eating)….I will be happy! I’ve said this isn’t a diet but a lifestyle change so here it is! It’s my life and I’m feeling great!!

My Keto journey- week 6

New week- new start!

Back following Keto… and back to feeling “better!”. One thing I’ve noticed over the years is after a day of eating crap foods… my hands hurt. They get really swollen and wearing my engagement and wedding bands together is a big no no! They just don’t fit! However, ever since starting Keto, I wake up with “normal” hands! Wearing both rings has been nice!

My Keto journey- Week 5

It’s my birthday!! 39 years old! My last year in my 30’s 😱

Oh but wait…. I feel great! I may be pushing 40… but I’m still getting carded 😂

However… it’s been a bad week of Keto 😩 it’s been an every other day KETO WOE. I haven’t gained weight but I’m not feeling as great as I did on Keto. Eating more than 50g of carbs does a number on my tummy… and then I feel sluggish for a few hours after. It’s definitely been a very eye opening week.

However, I discovered that I don’t have to skimp when it comes to food! We are a taco family. At least once every week. This week I made skirt steak tacos and they were delicious. Sazon seasoning, lime juice… yum!!  I ate like a King! And had leftovers the next day!! Yay!!

Friday: Happy St. Patty’s

I’m even posted a pic of me in… glasses!! 😱🤓

My Keto journey- Week 4

Week 4

Monday- I am going in full force this week! Lol! Next week marks my last year in my 30’s!!! Ahhh! 😂

I also did hot yoga and ran a mile and a half. Yay! Wow!

I realized after I completed my day that today’s eating could have been categorized as a fast 19/5. I decided I would “skip” breakfast to see how that goes.  Before Keto, I wasn’t much of a breakfast person. Love breakfast food, just not at breakfast time. So, I’m eating all of my macros/calories in between the hours of 11:30-4:30. I had my morning coffee with cream and that seemed to hold me till lunch. I was actually surprised! I thought I’d be starving. I was hungry but not as bad as I was expecting. Day 1 like this was great!

Tuesday- Day 2 of 19/5 went great as well. First of all, I was back to dropping weight. I plateau last week so seeing a smaller number was awesome! No workout today… definitely recovering from yesterday.

Wednesday- Not much to say today. My weight lost seems to have stalled a little… if only my scale measured ounces! Lol!! I know I’m losing… my clothes seem to fit better but the scale isn’t moving. It’s hard being addicted to a scale number!

Thursday- today was a long day!i knew that when I woke up this morning. It’s the day before my baby turns 2! TWO!! So tonight is cake decorating time! I was up till 1 am kneeding and cutting fondant, molding it into a Thomas the Train 3D cake. It wasn’t my best cake but I’m sure it’s going to taste great!

Friday- My littlest little turns 2 today! Oh how fast time has gone by!! We had a crazy busy day!! Dr. Appt, lunch at a train restaurant, nap, Chuck-E-Cheese, Rock’n Jump, and cake!  I resisted licking my fingers while decorating but I did indulge in a tiny piece… it was delicious!

Saturday- Today was shopping day. Whenever we go shopping, it’s also a meal. Our local market has the best salad and hot bar! I decided on a salad and a piece of sausage. Yum! Lots of carbs but also a lot of fiber… keeping my net carbs under 20g is harder when eating out.

Sunday- oh boy!! It was party day!! I’ve had this day planned as my cheat day! So I prepped… I fasted this morning and also ran 2-1/2 miles. But that didn’t help! I ate way off the Keto charts and had 2 pieces of cake!!! I feel gross! I feel like I need to hurl. I can honestly say that I wasn’t expecting to feel this way… I mean, it’s only been a month of this WOE (way of eating) so I’m excited that Keto seems to be good for me. My body literally feels icky! Back to Keto tomorrow!! I’m so excited!!

My Keto journey- Week 3

Week 3

Monday- AKA: Manic Mondays! 😂☕️

I’m still trying to adapt this new “Way of Eating” (WOE) to everyday life… especially when it’s time to be social! I love my Moms Nights Out! Whether it’s to a movie, out to eat, game night, movie night ins… it’s hard! So much food and wine!! I mean, us mom’s… we know how to cook! Everything is always so delicious!!

Tuesday- First official “craving” hit me… pizza 😩🍕

So, I made my first Keto friendly cauliflower crust pepperoni pizza! I didn’t have mozzarella cheese so I used cheddar. Yum! And so filling! Wow! I was stuffed! I improvised the crust and used 1 cup of cauliflower rice. I didn’t expect it to be “that much” food! Seriously amazing! I’m definitely making that again!!

Also, because of my craving for pizza, I thought I’d read up some more about Ketosis diet from other websites. Here’s a great one with a menu!

http://www.gomedclinic.info/2017/02/28/healthfully-enter-ketosis-with-this-delicious-7-day-ketogenic-meal-plan-and-menu-weight-loss-program/

Wednesday- MOPS

I didn’t eat a lot because all of the casseroles had potato in them and unfortunately no veggie platters. My pickings were slim but I think I did ok. Next meeting, our table is bringing breakfast. I’m already researching Keto casseroles! Very excited to eat!! Lol!

Thursday- I’ve been keeping a secret… between Monday’s MNO and Mops yesterday… I got kicked out of ketosis 😩 I thought I made some good choices but obviously, my test strips and scale said otherwise. My first setback… just keep going forward! Just keep swimming 🐠 just keep swimming 🐠 😃

Friday- TGIF 🎉🎉 Today was… my first expected “cheat” day. I had this planned.  School Bingo and pizza party night. I basically fasted all day (besides bacon! Ha!) till dinner! I also ran 3.5 miles to hopefully offset the “damage”! Lol! Fingers crossed!

Saturday- Today was definitely a lazy Saturday. I ate well but got very little movement in 😩 also… getting kicked out of keytosis stinks. Getting back in is harder than I expected!

Sunday- still not in Ketosis 😩😢 today will hopefully be a quick fast!! 1 week left before my first goal date… would really like to hit my first goal weight on goal date! But, I’m also being realistic… because of my setback this week… it’s still doable but hard. Very hard! I can do it!!
