Beaches, Cali style

We may live in the central part of the US… But we love our beaches! Lake Beaches, ocean beaches…. Beaches beaches beaches!! If there’s sand & water, my boys are in heaven!

I asked a friend, who used to live in the area, what and where were the best beaches. She gave me a few options.

– Newport Beach (Balboa Peninsula)

– Laguna Beach

– Beach at Dana Point

– Huntington Beach (we actual saw a surfing contest!)

We made it to 3 of them!! Each being very different from the others!

Laguna beach had an awesome playground for my older son! He even made a friend which made it 10x more special! I noticed some of the playgrounds were pretty empty so having a playmate was key! And well, a 6m old and mommy & daddy are ok for a little bit! Lol!
The beach was just ok. I was surprised how quickly the beach declined into the ocean. When the water receded it was a little too strong for my comfort zone.  I was afraid the undercurrent would suck my light weight son into the water!

Huntington Beach was our favorite!   As you can see… My water loving son had a blast! The beach… Has a super low decline into the water! It was like a zero depth pool!! Loved it!! I didn’t have to worry too much 😜 !    On the other side of the pier… There was a surfing competition going on. That was fun to see!

Newport Beach. Very nice beach but very empty! Granted, we were at the beach on a Tuesday but between Newport & Huntington… Huntington had way more people. The pier was lovely! Since this was the first beach we visited that morning, it was a lot of oohs & aahhs from my 5 year old! First time at an ocean beach!

But the best part about all of the beaches… The outdoor showers!!
